Abstract
The major specific features of the spontaneous spreading of non-Newton ian liquids on solid surfaces are considered. It was shown that within the framework of this problem it is reasonable to classify various ta sks into three groups depending on the decisive role of the surface an d bulk properties as well as on the effects occurring near the wetting line. The influence of the solid-liquid interactions on the structuri ng and other non-Newtonian effects arising during spreading is also di scussed.
