Polymerization reactions in dimethyldiethoxylsilane were studied using
a new high-resolution Si-29 NMR method, This method is a combination
of two polarization transfer experiments (DEFT) with a Si-29-Si-29 two
-dimensional INEPT DQF COSY NMR experiment, The structures of oligomer
s were identified, including linear oligomers up to hexamers and cycli
c oligomers with three, four or five silicon atoms, The distribution o
f species was determined from the intensities of resonance lines, givi
ng some information on the polymerization pathways.
