Abstract
Combined heat and power generation (CHP) is an important option for re ducing the primary energy consumption. The share of CHP-related electr icity production in the EU-12 decreased from 8% to 6% of the total pro duced electricity. Exceptions to this trend are Denmark and The Nether lands. The increase is mainly stimulated by the energy companies, whic h invest in CHP for their own risk. Additionally, in Denmark also a nu mber of standard settings are used, especially for district heating.
