Solid state Al-27 NMR was used to characterize the interaction of ethy
lenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and its disodium salt with gamma-al
umina. The support was initially impregnated with an EDTA solution. In
this stage the chelating agent forms mainly a complex with gamma-alum
ina and a fraction of it was used for removing Al3+ ions from the supp
ort framework.
