Abstract
The interconnection of linear systems may exhibit disturbing phenomena , like hidden modes or a lack of control variables. These features, wh ich cannot be taken into account by the transfer function approach, ar e here explained by utilizing the language of modules, which is strong ly related to Willems' behavorial approach. Several examples are caref ully discussed.
