A quantum-mechanical treatment of the stationary wavefunctions of vibr
ationally and rotationally highly excited quasi-bound xenon excimers i
n the electronic state O-u(+) is presented. A simple analytical method
is proposed that can be realized with the help of special software su
ited for fast high-precision calculations. For this purpose, the compu
ter programming language UBASIC is used. Quasi-discrete features of th
e continuous energy spectrum are discussed and demonstrated. The spect
rum of quasi-bound excimers consists of narrow resonance-like peculiar
ities that can be treated as quasi-discrete vibrational levels. The en
ergy dependence of the phase shift is established for quasi-bound xeno
n excimers.
