Hg. Gutierrez et al., A CASE OF SPONTANEOUS INNOMINATE-ARTERY PERFORATION WITH PERICARDIAL TAMPONADE, Catheterization and cardiovascular diagnosis, 37(3), 1996, pp. 277-280
We describe a case of a spontaneously occurring innominate artery perf
oration which, rather than resulting in immediate death, developed a s
ubacute course with findings suggestive of an expanding mediastinal ma
ss, The cause of the spontaneous perforation appears to have been a co
mbination of atherosclerosis, infection, and infiltration of the under
lying structures with malignancy, This is a unique case of subacute sp
ontaneous perforation of a great vessel. (C) 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
