Abstract
The experimental and calculated C-13, O-17, and Si-29 NMR chemical shi fts of silylated ketenes and bisketenes show trends consistent with ch arge redistribution resulting from neutral hyperconjugative donation f rom the R(3)Si-C bond to the p orbital on the carbonyl carbon, and are supportive of this mechanism for the striking stability of these spec ies.
