Dj. Simbi et Jc. Scully, THE EFFECT OF RESIDUAL INTERSTITIAL ELEMENTS AND IRON ON MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF COMMERCIALLY PURE TITANIUM, Materials letters, 26(1-2), 1996, pp. 35-39
The mechanical properties of commercially pure (CP) titanium can be im
proved by controlled additions of the interstitial elements oxygen (O)
, nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) as well as iron without sacrificing duct
ility. Increasing the iron content leads to a refinement of the equiax
ed alpha-grain size and in addition imparts a low rate of work hardeni
ng. A deformation texture that is not affected by changes in compositi
on is observed.
