C. Ducampsanguesa et al., FINE PALLADIUM POWDERS OF UNIFORM PARTICLE-SIZE AND SHAPE PRODUCED INETHYLENE-GLYCOL, Solid state ionics, 63-5, 1993, pp. 25-30
Finely divided crystalline palladium has been synthesized from several
inorganic precursors by chemical reduction in ethylene glycol. Pallad
ium black is produced when ethylene glycol serves as solvent and reduc
ing agent. Monodisperse spherical particles are produced by the hydraz
ine reduction of [Pd(NH3)4]2+ in ethylene glycol in the temperature ra
nge from 20-degrees-C to -9-degrees-C. Control of particle size, shape
and degree of dispersion is achieved by making changes in the reactio
n parameters, which in turn affect the reduction, nucleation and growt
h steps.
