M. Matherny et K. Eckschlager, DETERMINATION OF RELEVANCY AND REDUNDANCY OF THE PARAMETERS OF INFORMATION-THEORY, Chemometrics and intelligent laboratory systems, 32(1), 1996, pp. 67-72
Relevancy and redundancy values of the analytical results can, in prin
ciple, be expressed by means of the information theory parameters, mai
nly on the basis of calculated values of information contents or measu
re of information content. Variations in the calculated values of info
rmation contents of the experimental results with respect to the toler
ance values numerically express the information profits and their redu
ndancy. The relevancy coefficient acts always as a reducing parameter
of the values of information contents but express also the degree of u
sefulness of the actual analytical determination.
