Z. Stojanovic et al., AGING OF DRAWN AND GAMMA-IRRADIATED ISOTACTIC POLYPROPYLENE USING HIGH OXYGEN-PRESSURE, Polymer degradation and stability, 51(1), 1996, pp. 45-49
Drawn and undrawn samples of gamma-irradiated isotactic polypropylene
(iPP) were aged under 0.5 MPa of oxygen at 80 degrees C. Radiation-ind
uced and post-irradiation effects were observed using infra-red spectr
oscopy. Changes of the elongation at break and strength at break as fu
nctions of aging time and draw ratio were determined from the stress-s
train measurements. It is shown that the strength at break of drawn an
d gamma-irradiated iPP after accelerated aging for more than 20 h is s
till high (> 50 N/mm(2)). These data were related to the radiation eff
ects in drawn and undrawn iPP.
