Rg. Bauer et La. Melnikov, CHARACTERISTICS OF SOLITON PULSES IN AN OPTICAL-FIBER WITH A PERIODICALLY MODULATED CORE DIAMETER, Laser physics, 5(4), 1995, pp. 892-898
We use numerical modeling to study the dynamics of propagation of a co
upled pair of two-soliton pulses and a one-soliton pulse with a weakly
perturbed amplitude in an optical fiber where the diameter of the cor
e is periodically modulated. The mathematical model includes variation
s in dispersion characteristics and the effective area of the fundamen
tal mode of a fiber. The theoretical possibility of producing a sequen
ce of soliton pulses with the required spectral, phase, and amplitude
characteristics in the considered waveguide is demonstrated. We can co
ntrol the number of pulses in such sequences and parameters of pulses
by varying the phase and the amplitude of the input signal.
