Abstract
A numerical model for an ideal venturi scrubber was developed. Predict ions of this model indicate that there can be considerable particle co llection in the venturi's diffuser and that interception is a signific ant collection mechanism for particles larger than one micrometer in d iameter. These results indicate that the ideal venturi scrubber model is an over simplification of the processes occurring within a venturi scrubber.
