A. Gerard et al., PRACTICAL USE OF CEFEPIM IN A UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL - RETROSPECTIVE STUDY OF 35 CASES, Pathologie et biologie, 44(2), 1996, pp. 138-140
The authors report a retrospective study of 35 patients treated with c
efepime (Axepim(R)). This patients were either hospitalized in a medic
al or in a surgical ICU or were febrile neutropenic patients. The non
neutropenic group was put on cefepime for nosocomial pneumonia or misc
ellaneous sepsis. When recovered, Enterobacteriaceae were the most fre
quent pathogens. Clinical cure rate for the patients treated with cefe
pime was 83%. Cefepime is a safe and effective empirical treatment for
serious infections and nosocomial infections in particular.
