P. Weiss et al., SEXUAL-BEHAVIOR OF CZECH ADOLESCENTS AND ITS RISKINESS FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF THE HIV AIDS INFECTION - RESULTS OF THE NATIONAL INVESTIGATION/, Ceskoslovenska psychologie, 39(5), 1995, pp. 425-432
The authors present results of the research in some charactaristics of
sexual behaviour of Czech boys and girls aged from 12 to 18 years. By
means of personal interview a representative set of 1011 pupils from
basic schools, training institutions, technical colleges and secondary
schools was examined. It was found that before 18 years of age up to
75 % of respondents has got a sexual experience. A disturbing fact is
that even though Czech boys and especially girls give higher number of
sexual partners than their equals in age in West European countries a
nd in the U.S.A. (34 % of girls and 37 % of boys had 4 and more partne
rs), the frequency of using condom is substantially lower (only less t
hen 10 % of the sample use is regularly). What concerns the knowledge
about the ways of transferring the HIV virus, many inadequate ideas ab
out possible contagion survive, as well as there are many threatening
ignorances surviving in younger boys and girls. The results show that
the characteristics of sexual behaviour found represent a real threat
for a substantial part of adolescents in the future.
