Abstract
In the presence of suitable rhodium(II) catalysts, lactam derived beta -ketosulfoxonium ylides can be transformed to beta-oxonitrogen heteroc ycles, e.g. substituted 4-oxopyrrolidine, via intermediates of carbeno id nature.
