Abstract
The kinetics of the reaction between nitrite and excess deoxy hemocyan in (Hc) is presented. The rate of disappearance of both reactants is e qual to the rate of formation of the products, half-met hemocyanin and NO. Quantitative analyses accounted for all species in the following reaction, in which oxidation of one Cu(I) per binuclear site occurs up on single electron oxidation by nitrite.Cu-I-Cu(I)Hc + HNO2 + H+ --> C u-II-Cu(I)Hc + NO + H2O
