Tv. Sirota et al., EFFECT OF ALPHA(1)-ACID GLYCOPROTEIN (ORO SOMUCOID) ON THE RESPIRATION OF LIVER-MITOCHONDRIA, Biologiceskie membrany, 13(1), 1996, pp. 40-44
alpha(1)-Acid glycoprotein (orosomucoid), a well characterized acute p
hase protein, was shown to inhibit the respiration of rat liver mitoch
ondria which utilized succinate as an oxidation substrate. Orosomucoid
inhibited both the ADP- and Ca2+-stimulated respiration of mitochondr
ia. Orosomucoid was isolated from rat plasma by different methods. The
observed effects of orosomucoid were suggested to be determined by a
considerable negative charge of orosomucoid.
