Mz. Sukhanova et al., GENETIC-ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN ALKALINE-P HOSPHATASE ACTIVITY IN 2 STRAINS OF DROSOPHILA-VIRILIS DIFFERING IN HEAT-SHOCK RESPONSE, Genetika, 32(1), 1996, pp. 68-72
Genetic control of changes in alkaline phosphatase activity was studie
d in adult individuals from two strains of Drosophila virilis under no
rmal conditions and at a high temperature (38 degrees C). Flies from s
train 101 responded to the heat shock with a reduction in enzyme activ
ity, whereas flies from strain 147 lacked this response. Strains 101 a
nd 147 were shown to differ in alkaline phosphatase activity at a norm
al temperature. Genetic analysis of these differences was performed. T
hey were shown to be controlled monogenically (or by a battery of tigh
tly linked genes). The gene determining alkaline phosphatase activity
was localized on an autosome.
