Highly volatile hydrogen peroxide is formed during polyethylene oxidat
ion inhibited by 2,2'-methylene-bis(4-methyl-6-tret-buthylphenol). The
rate of formation of H2O2 changes together with the current concentra
tion of antioxidant during the induction period, but dramatically rise
s when the latter is over. The regularities and mechanism of formation
of hydrogen peroxide are discussed.
