Abstract
This study demonstrates how analysis of new British Census data (the S amples of Anonymised Records) may enhance other data sets for transpor t and planning purposes. The study uses logistic regression with categ orical and dichotomous socio-economic independent variables to investi gate access to cars amongst the elderly population in Sheffield. The m ethod can be applied to any UK metropolitan or county area. The conclu sions have implications for policies on sustainable transport and soci al integration.
