THE STRESS TENSOR FOR NONLOCAL FIELD-EQUATIONS

Construction of the stress tensor for a low differential order field t heory on translation-invariant space is routine. If the underlying spa ce is rotation, or Lorentz, invariant, an equivalent symmetric tensor can be found as well. Extension to non local field equations, common, for example, in the statistical mechanical theory of fluids, is not ro utine and is carried out in this paper. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
