Abstract
A radiotracer method has been developed to characterize new fuel-cell membrane materials having high ionic conductance. Three radiotracers w ere employed simultaneously in cell studies and measured by a combinat ion of liquid-scintillation and gamma-ray counting. This new method ha s been shown capable of measuring equilibrium concentrations and trans port rates of sodium cations (representing counterions), chlorine anio ns (representing coions) and water molecules in ion-exchange membranes .
