Abstract
Powdered immunoglobulin (Ig) partially purified from freeze-dried conc entrated colostrum of Holstein cows was found to have a preventive eff ect against diarrhea caused by bovine rotavirus (BRV) in calves when g iven soon after birth. In contrast, no therapeutic effect was shown in calves that were already affected with diarrhea. The Ig powder showed BRV neutralizing antibody titers of between 1:2,048 and 1:16,384.
