The base-catalyzed hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl hexanoate has been stud
ied in the presence of methacrylic surfactants (monomers, telomers and
polymers). Micellar catalysis is always enhanced by the polymerizatio
n of the surfactant aggregates and increases with the degree of polyme
rization (DPn).
