Abstract
We investigated the stability of the wake behind a weakly heated cylin der in a water flow. The numerical simulation results are analyzed in the frame of the Landau-Stuart model. In the vertical configuration, h eating stabilizes the wake, whereas it destabilizes the wake in the ho rizontal configuration. The maximum amplitude position in the wake dep ends on both Reynolds and Rayleigh numbers.
