The role of interfacial phenomena at the ''kaolinite-water'' boundary
in interparticle interactions has been examined. The nature of active
sites on the kaolinite surface and their participation in coagulation
structure formation were studied, Mechanisms of interparticle contact
formation have been investigated and possible methods of direct regula
tion of their strength and number are proposed. The role of components
of disjoining pressure during structure formation is shown.
