Abstract
The rheology of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/alkanol/water solutions u nder different shear conditions has been investigated using a Ferranti -Shirley rheometer. The shear viscosity varies depending on whether th e system belongs to the L(2) or the L(2)/D region. The flow behavior o f samples within the L(2) or L(2)/D regions also varies significantly with composition and exhibits interesting phase transitions under shea ring. The temperature and the [alkanol]/[SDS] molar ratio have conside rable influences on the rheology of surfactant self-assemblies.
