Kc. Mundim et al., HAMILTONIAN-DYNAMICS OF THE LANDAU MODEL OF FERROELECTRIC LIQUID-CRYSTALS .1., Physica status solidi. b, Basic research, 179(1), 1993, pp. 53-58
A Hamiltonian treatment of the Landau theory of phase transitions is p
resented. This formulation is based on the analogy between the order p
arameter space and the ordinary coordinate space of a particle moving
in two dimensions. As an application, ferroelectric smectic liquid cry
stals are considered.
