D. Peskovicova et al., THE INFLUENCE OF GENOTYPE X ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION ON THE PRODUCTIONTRAITS IN PIGS AND COWS, Zivocisna vyroba, 41(2), 1996, pp. 53-56
Linear model with fixed effects was used to analyze production traits
of pigs and primiparous cows and to evaluate the influence of genotype
x environment interaction on their variability. Four pig genotypes we
re tested in different environments (testing station, pilot acid comme
rcial fattening). Statistically significant influence of the genotype
x environment interaction on lean meat percentage, carcass weight, bac
kfat and average daily gain were found. As for the cows (Slovakian Sim
mental, Holstein and their crosses respectively) the following charact
eristics were evaluated: milk, fat and protein production, fat and pro
tein percentage as well. The records came from 5 environments (herds)
with different technology and level of the treatment. Highly significa
nt genotype x environment interaction was found for all traits studied
. The results achieved are also graphically presented. Insufficient st
ability of some genotypes in different environments was stated.
