A. Fucikova et al., THE INFLUENCE OF DIETARY-CADMIUM ON HEMAT OLOGICAL PARAMETERS AND DISACCHARIDASE ACTIVITIES IN RAT JEJUNAL ENTEROCYTES, Zivocisna vyroba, 41(2), 1996, pp. 63-67
The aim of the experiment was to study the influence of different chem
ical forms of dietary cadmium on hematological parameters, phagocytic
activity and activities of disaccharidases localized in rat jejunal en
terocytes. The experimental animals were fed for 51 days diets with ad
dition of feeding yeast Candida utilis with low (3 mg/kg) and high (60
mg/kg) content of organically bound cadmium or with diets enriched wi
th inorganic cadmium (CdCl2). Significantly lower (P < 0.05) values of
phagocytic index were found in the groups with yeast addition. Notabl
e stimulation (P < 0.01) of sucrase activity was measured in group 5 (
standard diet + CdCl2) compared to the control group. Lactase activity
was inhibited (P < 0.05) in group 4 (3 mg Cd/kg in yeast + CdCl2). Gl
ucoamylase activity was stimulated (P < 0.01) in groups 2 (3 mg Cd/kg
in yeast), 3 (60 mg/kg in yeast) and 5 (standard diet + CdCl2).
