Abstract
The authors have developed driving waveforms for a new partial writing scheme. In the new partial writing scheme, the selected pixel which w ill change its image is rewritten, but the selected pixel which will n ot change its image is not. However, the driving waveform applied to t he selected pixel which will not change its image must give the same o ptical transmission as that due to the driving waveform applied to the non-selected pixels. Using this idea, flickerless FLC displays having 1024 x 1024 pixels can be developed without needing a material with a fast switching time.
