Abstract
The Skrunda Radio Location Station in Latvia, an early warning radar s ystem which operates in the 156 to 162 Mhz frequency range, has been i n operation since 1971 and is scheduled to operate until 1998. Current ly, information on the biological effects of radio frequency electroma gnetic radiation emissions on plants is rare. A brief introduction to six papers in this issue of The Science of the Total Environment, whic h deal with the effects of the Skrunda Radio Location Station, is pres ented.
