Abstract
The intramolecular Schmidt reaction was applied to the norbornane skel eton to examine an approach to sparteine. In so doing, the stereospeci ficity of intramolecular Schmidt reactions of epsilon-azido ketones wa s demonstrated. The intramolecular Schmidt reaction was found to fail in a ketone containing a lactam moiety.
