Introduction. Cryptococcosis is an opportunistic infection, that rarel
y occurs in immunocompetent patients. Case report. We report a case of
a 82 year-old woman who suffered from a bacterial pneumonia associate
d with lymphopenia. During the hospitalisation, she developed a cutane
ous and ganglionnary cryptococcosis. No other cause of immunosuppressi
on was found. The lymphopenia disappeared with the healing of the pneu
monia treated with systemic antibiotics. Treatment with fluconazole wa
s effective in 2 months on the cryptococcosis. Comments. To our knowle
dge, this is the first case of cryptococcosis after a transitory lymph
openia, occurring in a immunocompetent patient.
