Cj. Jenks et al., EFFECTIVENESS OF A FLUORINATED NICKEL SURFACE IN CATALYZING THE DECOMPOSITION OF A PERFLUOROPOLYETHER ANALOG, Surface science, 348(1-2), 1996, pp. 175-184
We describe ultrahigh Vacuum studies of a perfluoropolyether analog, p
erfluorodiethoxymethane (PFDEM), interacting with a partially fluorina
ted nickel surface. Results of temperature-programmed desorption studi
es show that PFDEM does not undergo C-F bond cleavage and subsequent f
ormation of nickel-fluorine bonds. The use of a defect-rich surface ha
s no effect on the results.
