The Hindi version of the Eysenck Personality inventory and the Trait s
cale of the Hindi version of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory were ad
ministered to 945 female Indian students (M age=20.4 yr., SD=1.4) to s
tudy the personalities of those scoring low and high on the Lie scale,
and the association of Lie scale scores in the intercorrelation betwe
en Impulsivity and Neuroticism under no motivation to fake good. The g
roup with low scores on the Lie scale had lower scores on Impulsivity
and higher scores on Neuroticism and Trait Anxiety than a group scorin
g high on the Lie scale. No association of Lie scale scores was observ
ed with scores on Extraversion. Lie scale scores were differentially a
ssociated with scores on Impulsivity and Neuroticism. The need to cons
ider the Lie scale in addition to other scales in studies of personali
ty is emphasised.
