Psychohistorians have uncovered a wealth of evidence suggesting that H
itler's psychopathology became projected and rationalized as social po
licy. Despite this cumulative evidence, no specific diagnosis has been
generally accepted. The strengths and weaknesses of psychohistorical
research and the ethical responsibilities involved in its use are disc
ussed.
