A. Kriplani et al., COMPLETE INVERSION OF THE UTERUS DURING CESAREAN-SECTION - A CASE-REPORT, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 36(1), 1996, pp. 17-19
A case of complete inversion of the uterus through the uterine incisio
n at the time of Caesarean section is presented. The possible aetiolog
ical factors were a short cord and fundal insertion of the placenta. D
isappearance of the lower segment incision and the raw appearance of t
he endometrial surface of a completely inverted uterus posed a diagnos
tic dilemma. Prompt understanding and immediate repositioning by a sim
ple technique prevented any further complications. This rare complicat
ion of Caesarean section and its easy principles of management are des
cribed for the benefit of an unwary obstetrician.
