Optical cell buffering at 10 Gb/s is accomplished with a new simple mu
ltiwavelength fiber loop memory technique. The architecture uses wavel
ength converters to select the cell delay and in the experiment wavele
ngth conversion is obtained by use of a monolithically integrated Mich
elson interferometer employing semiconductor optical amplifiers.
