This paper presents results of investigations of the Raman scattering
of vibrational modes in Zn1-xMgxSe crystals for the range of compositi
on 0 < x < 0.43. The Raman polarized spectra of Zn1-xMgxSe were measur
ed at room temperature. The typical Raman spectrum shows four peaks wh
ich can be interpreted as longitudinal and transverse optical ZnSe-lik
e and MgSe-like phonons. The ZnSe-like and MgSe-like vibrations can be
described by tile modified random element isodisplacement model. Resu
lts of the Raman measurements in tile investigated range of compositio
n confirm the two-mode behaviour of the optical phonons in the mixed Z
n1-xMgxSe crystals.
