The scale-up of benzoyl peroxide initiated copolymerisation of styrene
and butyl methacrylate is studied here. The reaction is carried out i
n reactors of 3, 10 and 100 1 volume. Increasing the reactor size incr
eases the weight average molecular weight and broadens the molecular w
eight distribution. Reducing the agitator diameter broadens the molecu
lar weight distribution.
