MORE ABOUT A BOSONIC STRING WITH A TOPOLOGICAL TERM

We study a model of a bosonic string in a specific antisymmetric backg round. It is shown that the action in the conformal gauge possesses th e same residual Lu, symmetry as that for the ordinary bosonic string. Static solutions to the classical equations of motion are found for ar bitrary space-time dimension and for arbitrary orientation of the stri ng, and the static potential in the semiclassical (quadratic) approxim ation is derived. It is shown that the quasi-static picture breaks dow n beyond some critical distance which depends on the orientation of th e string.
