Abstract
Thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazole 3 was prepared and allowed to cyclize wit h CS2 to give 1,3-dihydropyrimidin[4',5':4,5] thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimida zole-2,4-dithione (4). On alkylation of 4 with alkyl/aralkyl iodide af forded the corresponding dithioalkyl derivatives 5a-c. Reactions of 4 with p-substituted phenacyl bromide gave the dithioacetophenone deriva tives 6a-c. In addition, when the dithione derivative 4 was reacted wi th chloroacetic acid esters furnished the dithio-esters 7a-b in satisf actory yields.
