This article addresses the need for more research-derived data on the
sexual practices of gay males, 13 to 19 years old, and subsequent fact
-based preventive interventions because the number of AIDS cases among
this group is rapidly increasing both in the United States and worldw
ide. The authors provide a comprehensive overview of unsafe sexual beh
aviors and review the literature on gay male adolescents' perceptions
regarding safer sex. They also include suggested questionnaire items a
nd discuss implications for counselors and educators.
