The direct moving boundary problem is studied during the melting proce
ss of an one-dimensional gray semi-transparent medium fitted with blac
k: or transparent boundaries. By means of a Landau transform, the syst
em is studied in a fixed space-temporal domain [0, 1] x [0, infinity]
adapted to the solution of the radiative problem. In the direct proble
m, the interface location, its melting velocity, as well as the succes
sive temperature profiles are carried out as a function of the inciden
t heat flux on the moving interface and for various values of the radi
ative-conductive coupling parameters. The radiative source term is per
formed by means of two different methods, either the discrete ordinate
s method or the ray tracing one.
