Kc. Hinge et Am. Maniatty, THE EFFECT OF SKEW ANGLE ON THE AXIAL PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION BETWEEN FLEXIBLE RUBBER-COVERED ROLLERS, International journal of mechanical sciences, 38(6), 1996, pp. 607-619
This work presents a simplified means to determine the axial contact p
ressure distribution between two pinched, flexible, rubber-clad, cylin
drical rolls that are aligned with axes skewed. Of particular interest
is the effect of the skew angle on the axial contact pressure distrib
ution. A finite element model is used with beam elements to model the
bending of the roll cores and spring elements to model the load-indent
ation relationship between the rubber coatings. Numerical results of c
ontact pressure and contact width vs axial location are presented for
varying amounts of skew, and these are compared with experimental resu
lts.
