This paper evaluates the atmospheric CO2 impact of recent energy scena
rios. The impact of the expected four-fold increase in energy use is c
ompared with that reflecting a reduced fossil fuel-burning scenario. M
easurement of the alternative impact is needed using an econometric mo
delling approach to the traditional atmospheric equilibrium model. Pre
scriptions are given regarding the benefits of the reduced fossil fuel
demand scenario.
