Abstract
Treatment of alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (1) with hydraz ine hydrate in ethanol afforded new 3,5-diaryl-pyrazolines (2). N-Subs tituted 3,5-diarylpyrazolines (3) were prepared via liquid-liquid phas e transfer catalysis using tetra-n-butylammonium hydrogen sulphate as the phase transfer catalyst and alkyl/allyl halides as alkylating/ally lating agent. Chloroform/benzene was used as organic phase and 50% aq KOH as the aq phase. All N-alkylated/allylated 3,5-diarylpyrazolines w ere characterized both by spectral (IR, PMR and Mass) and analytical d ata.
